This is called "Carqueja".
Despite the gentle aspect... take a look at those leafs...
Yeah, take care to not sting your finger on it!

In fact, that's it.
A smooth and thin cloud formation creates a cloak over the "Encumeada".
Here, this mountain separates the North part of the Island to the South.
The air flow from North to South, from colder to warmer temperatures,
so, as the air warms the cloud disappears.
If some day you have the chance to see it live,
keep looking for 1 minute: you will see the cloud moving and to dissipate.

Today I've missed my home Island: Madeira.
Since I'm far from home, I was impelled to review some
of my old photos...
As it's so relaxing, nature touching and, most of all,
about my loved Island, I'm sharing, with you,
this day on the mountains.
This place is called "Bica da Cana".
It's located on the Madeira's highest plateau, called "Paúl da Serra".
Using Google Earth, insert this location (32°45'20.34"N, 17° 3'32.00"W) and have a look on it :)
It's worthwhile to forget everything, everyone and just feel the
nature all around you.
These pictures bring back memories of the most beloved place in the world for me,where even bad times are good, the people the most cherished and the five years spent there the shortest time in my life. Where I learned the most lessons and my heart was most fulfilled. Beijinho querida.

Well Rui, these photos show me exactly why Maderia is a very special place! I had been there for two times but that is over ten years ago. Now I will come back in October next year to show the beauty of Madeira to my 6 years old doughter. I am really looking foreward for some spectacular walks, some very special views and also for plane spotting at the FNC Airport! Thank you for sharing the photos with us.
