These pics were taken on Jan.4th 2005 inside the RG3 (army base at Funchal). Had the luck to see the Puma landing inside and the duty personal was kind enough to let me in to take some pics.

It was happening a military exercice and the Puma had landed in the base to load some cargo, to be transported to the mountains.

This was the first time I was near one of these birds and that meant a lot because this helicopter has had an important roll for the people of Madeira and specially of Porto Santo, for its service to the population with Medical Evacuations and Search and Rescue Missions.

As the back of the Puma was real crowded with the soldiers, crew and cargo, I tryed not getting in the way and only pictured the front.

There it goes...It will be missed. Some time after these pics, the Puma started beeing replaced by the brand new EH-101 Merlin.
