...from there you can get an amazing view all around with it's airport laying at its feet, guarded by old war canons and bunkers...and Spain, just by the other side of the airport.

This was quite an interesting airport, if not because of the traffic (saw no planes around...) at least by the fact that you cross the runway like some railroad passage....How many places can you do that?

That's were I met a local spotter, very concentrated on the car's movement on the runway (no planes...remember?).

When he noticed me. He got quite amazed for finding a member of the Madeira Spotters around...

As he was such a nice guy, ended up paying him lunch!
Unfortunatelly, no bananas...but he wasn't a dificult guy...an apple went just fine!! :))) |

wow ! #5 is impressive, it took me some time to realise that the road was actually crossing the runway ! But this airport is no more in use, is it ?
