Today, another Portuguese Navy ship arrived for the comemorations of Navy National Day 2008: 'N.R.P. D. Carlos I'
An Oceanographic research ship named after a portuguese king that gave great importance on the oceanic research. This ship was received in Feb.1997 and after some modifications works (previously was at US Navy, lauched in 1989) went to the service. |
Got to the harbour in time for the ladder (or is it bridge?) instalation.

A lot of seawomen on board. (Also a lot of people for the ladder instalation...)

Anyway...these guys were much more interested in the fish (with all the movement in the water, I doubt there were many left around...)

Also, couldn't help noticing the last sun rays on the east side of Funchal downtown. The fortress of S.Tiago on yellow and, behind, the tower of Socorro Church (were I got married).
