Asas de Portugal in Funchal's 500 Years

On last 21 of August Funchal city celebrated its 500 Years. Madeira was discovered around 1419 and Funchal was the first europeen city overseas.
Asas de Portugal, Portugal Air Force display team took part on the celebrations: I guess this pic is a nice way to represent this participation: While they were starting the display, the replica of 'Santa Maria' was also arriving to Funchal...

The 'Asas' made 2 flights during this day. In the morning they made some city overflying and in the afternoon, the aerobatics display.

We were expecting to get back to the airport in time for the landing as the flight time for the Asas was suposed to be of 1.30h...after all, they returned earlier...so, no landing pics...

After the display, it was time for 3 parachutists: This one with the city flag, another with Madeira flag and another with the national flag.

The parachutists were dropped by the Merlin which made a last flight over Funchal, before heading to Porto Santo, its base.
