Funky Yogurt Sauce
2008.07.15
I got home after a long day of work and a run (stupid hot weather) and was starving, so I whipped up a yogurt sauce to go with the salmon I had thawed in the fridge. I didn't have any cucumbers, which is a standard ingredient in cucumber sauces; I also had no dill. But I did have dill pickles. I chopped them up really fine, more like a relish, and added them to the yogurt with garlic powder, Mrs. Dash chicken grill seasoning, and lemon juice. I stuck it in the fridge and pulled out the fish.
My salmon was in the freezer too long and had a brownish streak in it, which was less than fresh, and it smelled a little fishy, so I tossed it. So now I have this yogurt sauce, which may or may not be hideous, and no fish. I grabbed some of the meatballs I had frozen awhile ago and stuck them in the oven. Once they were warmed, I topped them off with the yogurt sauce. It was kind of Middle Eastern, though the meatballs were turkey and beef, not lamb.
My mistake ended up turning out really well. The sauce is fantastic and I've been dipping carrots and cherry tomatoes into it all day.

Well, there you go! Sometimes I think the best things in life aren't always things that were planned.
