the first shot is the one with most promise, the thing i think about shots such as these is that framing and composition 'rules' are very important. look at where the top of the headboard is it is on a perfect third, perhaps if the foot of the bed (or the colour change in the sheet) were placed on the bottom third(ie taken from slightly higher angle), the vase is well placed, the computer could balance the shot if brought forward and perhaps have something to reinforce your message on screen?
