In association with Artomatic and the Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District, the Fraser Gallery will be exhibiting work by the following artists in January.
Doug Sanford, a commercial photographer based in Washington DC, will exhibit photographs from his most recent series titled
"I. Hate. You. Letters to a Cheating Boyfriend."
I. Hate. You. Letters to a Cheating Boyfriend- examines the
themes of pain, honesty, commitment, disillusionment and personal
culpability for loss, through the framework of a series of
photographs of scathing emails received during the dissolution of a
3 year relationship.
Originally created in a effort to study and internalize the included
sentiments, and to face the fallout of his own personal actions in
causing the loss of a relationship very important to him, this intimate look at one persons pain and anger illustrates the
universality of our own collective experience. These extremely personal images of specifically painful, dramatic and poignant, words and phrases, highlighted by extremely selective focus and lighting, point up the intensity of emotion that we all have collectively felt or unfortunately may have caused.
An Opening Reception, free and open to the public, will be held in conjunction with the "Bethesda Art Walk" on Friday, January 12 from 6pm - 9pm. The Fraser Gallery is located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E, Bethesda, MD 20814. For more information, visit www.thefrasergallery.com or call 301 718-9651. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday, 11.30am - 6pm.
