A Familiar Place

2008.01.25

On Wednesday night I taught my first class for CDIA Boston University. One of our class discussions turned to the difficulty yet importance of seeing new and interesting things in places that are extremely familiar and mundane. I decided to give myself the assignment to create several images in a very familiar place. (My Kitchen) Here's what I came up with.

shelburt Excellent! I really admire those photographers who have the ability to conjure up something out of 'nothing.' One would not normally consider kitchen utensils or cooking implements to make for a great photograph - I like the way that you've looked past the 'ordinary-ness' of the scene, and combined the use of colours and textures to make a great composition. Any fool can take a picture of something pretty - it takes someone with the eye of an artist to see beauty and potential in the most mundane of settings. Well done :-) Adding the last one as a favorite!
