We have arrived safely home!! (This has been Patrick's condo and is now our home.) Our long journey across country was a ton of fun but now it's over.
First off, two pictures of the car (called Benton) to honor his service--he was loaded to the gills. Seriously. And his handling was *terrible*--too much angular momentum and inertia. I drove him for a few blocks after we unpacked him and it was like having a whole new car.
Benton was not happy going over the Appalachians today--but we made it. We even stopped at a scenic overlook in Green River State Park in western Maryland. It was gorgeous. I'd never been out to that part of Maryland--the mountains (soft and rounded but still definitely mountains) were lush and green and beautiful. And with Patrick in the view, it was even better.
I haven't seen many hardwoods other than cottonwoods and planted Norway maples for a few years--so the deciduous forest at the overlook was beautiful. :D
