Last Saturday morning, I got up early to go volunteer at the Howard County Greenfest. I was there with the foundation I've been working with since I got here--the James and Anne Robinson Foundation.

One of our activities at the fest was setting up an outdoor nature playspace for the kids. We had "tree cookies" (discs of wood), bamboo poles, rope, little bits of flowers and seeds and grass and straw, buckets and other things for playing with water, and so on.

I spent several hours outside playing with the kids and just being a responsible adult onsite. :D It was a huge amount of fun.

The two recognizable girls in these pictures are cousins J and M--their grandmother signed a waiver allowing the Foundation to use their pictures, so I don't feel bad about including them here. Otherwise, I don't think any of the kids could be recognized from these pictures.

Playing with the water was the big hit with the littlest kids. Building tents and teepees was the activity of choice for the bigger kids.
