Kokkarebelluru

2007.07.07

Kokkare Bellur, a 60 kilometres from Bangalore, means the village of the storks. In the midst of paddy fields and assorted cultivation, painted storks (Mycteria leucocephala) and spot-billed pelicans (Pelecanus philippensis) appear every year to nest amongst the huts of the villagers.

These birds are used to people and thus it is incredibly easy to capture them on film. The disadvantage, if any, in Kokkare Bellur, is the angle you shoot from. The photographer is on the ground, whilst the birds are in the trees.

Since this is a village and not a sanctuary as such, there are no time restrictions

All in all an awesome place to visit on a week end.. :D
Thanks pavan for coming :)
