Since my flight back home wasn't until early evening, I had some time to kill. I contemplated heading back to the State Capitol Building, but I had already ventured that way a couple times over the week. Luckily, President Lyndon Baines Johnson hailed near Austin, so I ventured over to his
presidential library.
It was interesting to catch a glimpse of his life as well as see some of the obscenely expensive gifts he received from foreign dignitaries during his presidency. I especially got a kick out of a pair of cuff links presented to him by former Philippine president, Ferdinand Marcos.
To me...the most awe-inspiring view was the staircase leading up to the second floor. You look up and you can see a wall full of archives behind thick glass. This is one of the instances when a photo does not do it justice...and when you wish you had a camera with a better wide-angle lens. ;)
