Today we didn't have too much of an agenda planned.
Originally we were going to head up to the Cloisters, but we didn't pay attention to the time. By the time we realized it, we only get about an hour in before the place closed...so we had to come up with a Plan B.
Plan B was just to walk and try to hit some of the sites and food places we had made a list of while we were still on the West Coast.
On the way to Grand Central Station, I snapped this picture of the Chrysler Building. I liked the way it looked behind the tree...I just wish it has be a little less overcast.
When we got to Grand Central, the NYPD was in the midst of a daily drill. So the station was surrounded by squad cars, but people were still able to freely walk in and out...really odd...
We had a late lunch at this cool rice ball place, called
Oms/b, before finding our way to the UN building. I was really bummed to not see all the flags surrounding the building...too bad meetings weren't in session.
We then headed to Washington Square, so that I could take a picture of the arch...that was currently in a construction area, surrounded by fencing...I really wasn't catching any breaks. ;)
We walked back up to Times Square and hung out at our hotel before heading back down to a yummy restaurant called
S'MAC. If you love macaroni and cheese...you
have to go. After S'MAC, we went in search of the
DessertTruck...which was so worth the walk to find it. I had the special, which was "brown butter and rum cake topped with poached pineapple and a yogurt panna cotta". It was soooooooooooo good! It's a shame that I didn't snap a picture before I devoured it. A gourmet dessert in a cup!
After dessert #1...we found our way to getting dessert #2 at
Rice to Riches. Don't worry...we took it back to the hotel and ate it a couple hours later. ;) I just hope all the walking offset all the eating!
