NOTE: I have to let the professionals handle this one. The show was spectacular, but I was nowhere near my windows while this was going on.
The clock read 8:10 p.m. when I heard the warbling tornado sirens wailing up and down the lakefront. Action between the Cubs and Astros had been suspended already for nearly a half-hour, my satelite dish had gone out and the sirens were echoing out of my radio as I tuned to WGN-720AM broadcasting from Wrigley. I took one look outside, grabbed my portable radio and phone and headed to the guest bathroom - my only windowless, interior room. From there, I talked to Dave who called up the radar image and tracked the storms progress across the city, all the while watching the strobe-like lightning out my office window. Tired of the cold bathroom floor, I moved out to the foyer for the remainder of the storm. All told, about 50 minutes of crazy stuff. A second blast rolled through around 11:15 p.m. as I watched through my skylights in the living room. The Cubs and Astros finally had enough and called it a night and as soon as the really nasty stuff rolled out, I did too.
