Wings start to appear. Looks very fish-like.

After getting most of the way out upside down, it curled up it's body and grabbed the shell in order to pop it's back end out. Once it was out, we could literally watch the wings grow.

Alan: hey, what's that weird thing on your bike?
Me: ewww ... I have no idea!
As we prepared breakfast and broke camp, we watched this cicada molt on the front tire of my bike.
Tough lighting, as to get the side shot from the left, I was looking directly into the sun. From the right, shadows. Best results came with stopping down the exposure.
