Lily woke up the next morning and T. Ray made her go out and work the peach stand. The next day is July 4th, Lilly’s birthday and she is going into town with Rosaleen, Lilly told T. Ray she needs to buy sanitary supplies. In the morning Rosaleen brings Lilly a cake for her birthday which they eat for breakfast.Lily and Rosealeen have gone into town on Lily’s Birthday. Rosealeen gets confronted about being a black woman registering to vote four men start yelling slurs at her about her race and size. Rosealeen dumps her snuff onto the men’s shoes and a fight begins. When the police come they take Rosealeen and Lily to jail.
