Seit dem 1. April 1976 ziert die von Rolf Brem gestaltete Bronzearbeit ”Das Mädchen und der Tod“ das Postament des sogenannten oberen Brunnens zwischen Rathaus und Winkelrieddenkmal. Schon in der Chronik von Diebold Schilling finden wir auf dem Bild des Stanser Verkommnisses von 1481 einen hölzernen Brunnen. Wappen und Wetterfahne standen auf dem Brunnenstock. Von 1732 bis 1841 beschützte Bruder Konrad Scheuber das kostbare Nass. Er wurde von einer Statue des hl. Johannes Nepomuk abgelöst, bis ein Lastwagen mit seiner Fuhre den Heiligen vom Sockel riss. |
