Sorry, guys I havent posted photos for a long time. I was kind of lazy but even though my camera was stolen (after my money was stolen) we took a lot of pictures of different spots. We went to some other cities nearby (so called Wasserstaedte) and it was nice just to be out of the city and having the feeling to be in a village. If you go through the small streets you feel more like in China (however it was in real) and it seems people live more outside (also because most people have such a small living space). So we had the feeling we were taking part of their lives. And of course we couldnt help but sneeking in the small houses.
Then there was this "amazing" anniversary of the university (100 years) and it was a big celebration (seemed like a smaller opening of some sports festival in Pyeongjang). And it was over so quickly.
These days we havent been doing so much traveling because of the weather. In late November it rained for over one week (felt like home ; ) . Now its better but kind of chilly and windy. Looking now outside I see the sun shining BUT its not clear. I remember a foreigner complaining about the air pollution in Korea. He should have been here! One day we went for a trip to the sea. I was really shocked. Have you ever seen brown water? Then just come to Shanghai and I show you the brownest water I have ever seen. ; ) And just next to it a little artificial lake with clear blue water (did the Chinese put some colour in it? ) . But you get used to it. Nonetheless Shanghai is still interesting and fascinating. It s not China but what is China?
At the moment we are exploring the nightlife and the stores. We are now trying to take pictures of Christmas trees (of course faked) and dancing Santa Clauses. It doesnt feel like Christmas. Only when I talk to my students, give them "Adventskalender" and "Nikolausschokolade" and see their curious and surprised eyes I feel like a mother telling their kids about Santa Claus.
Try to keep you up to date about our life here.
