Down the back of Windsor Great Park, is a section of monuments comprising historic stone ruins, standing crumbled alongside the woodland overlooking the main lake.
In the grouping of columns, bulk heads, pedistals, plinths and cornices; parts are made of granite, marble and limestone- which look fantastically historical as if they are meant to be there reminding passing strollers and joggers of their ancient past. But: this isn't quite the true story.
They have been constructed there from parts given as a gift from Lybia in 1826. This wasn't the first stop of British soil after they arrived from Tripoli in 1816- they were relocated to the park in twelve truck loads from The British Museum.
