O poeta António Aleixo, cauteleiro e pastor de rebanhos, cantor popular de feira em feira, pelas redondezas de Loulé ( Algarve - Portugal ) é um caso singular, bem digno de atenção de quantos se interessam pela poesia.
Nasceu em Vila Real de Santo António a 18 de Fevereiro de 1899 e faleceu em Loulé a 16 de Novembro de 1949.
Não sendo totalmente analfabeto, sabe ler e leu meia dúzia de bons livros - não é porém capaz de escrever com correcção e a sua preparação intelectual não lhe deu qualificação para poder ser considerado um poeta culto. Mas ficou sendo conhecido por o maior poeta popular ( O poeta do povo )

He was born in Real Village of António Saint the 18 of February of 1899 and faleceu in Loulé the 16 of November of 1949.
Not being total illiterate, it knows to read and it read stocking dozen of good books - it is not however capable to write with correction and its intellectual preparation it did not give qualification to it to be able to be considered a cultured poet. But it was being known for the biggest popular poet (the poet of the people)
