What irks me is that these lights are being placed in an area which has building of mostly late-1800s/early-1900s vintage... I feel like slapping the municipal corporation.

I love how people are just standing around watching or walking almost underneath. Around here the whole block would be cordoned off in case things started falling during installation.

Well, they're standing underneath mainly because the installation of this particular was already over. (Done in the stealth, at night, I believe).

Oh, so the lights are that low to the ground? I thought the lights would be hoisted up the pole. Why on earth is the pole so tall then? It's a waste of a whole bunch of (fugly) pole...
