A kiállítás egy kísérlet a művészettörténet résztudományának, az ikonográfiának újragondolására, illetve az ehhez kapcsolódó kérdések felvetésére. A műtárgyak tartalmának meghatározásával és értelmezésével foglalkozó tudományt kiemeljük száraz történeti közegéből, és áthelyezzük a Holdudvar Galériába, ahol fiatal művészek alkotásai között keressük mai helyét. A kiállított műveken ikonográfiai alaptípusok jelennek meg, a formai kódokhoz kapcsolható bibliai-, és művészettörténeti utalások egy régi és új aspektussal tágítják, vagy szűkítik a művek értelmezési horizontját. Így lesz képregényhősökből Dávid és Góliát, Darth Vaderből vagy Transformersből Apokalipszis lovasa, csónakázó kisfiúból Noé, vagy lenyíló fejű kiscsibéből a Szentlélek kiáradása. A művek ironikus volta azt is hangsúlyozza, hogy a formai kódok nem feltétlenül járnak együtt a hozzájuk kapcsolt tartalommal.
A művészettörténet módszertárába tartozó bibliográfiai hivatkozások és ikonográfiai párhuzamok most a kiállítás aktív szereplőivé válnak, egy-egy képtípus kapcsán a látogató akár rövid kutatásba is kezdhet a galéria terében elhelyezett lexikonok segítségével. A művek megfejtésére szolgáló könyvek látszólag pontos és megbízható kalauzként szolgálnak, kérdés azonban, hogy használható-e, és használandó-e ez a módszer a kiállított alkotások - vagy tágabb értelemben - a kortárs művészet kapcsán. A kiállítás célja nem a válaszok megtalálása, hanem hogy teret adjon az ikonográfia és a kortárs művészet találkozásának.

The exhibition analyses iconography as a field of study of art history. This academic study is taken out from it's original historical context, and transferred to the Holdudvar Gallery, to find its' present role among the young artists' artworks. Some basic iconographical types are appearing on the exhibited artworks. Related to these formal codes, the biblical and art historical references are expanding (or narrowing) the artworks' interpretational horizon with an old/new aspect. So that's how comics heroes are becoming David and Goliath, Darth Wader or Transformers are appearing as the Riders of the Apocalypse, punter boy appears as Noe, and a chick with a convertible head becomes the Procession of the Holly Ghost. Some basic iconographical types are appearing on the exhibited works, however their ironic tone emphasizes, that formal codes aren't certainly correlated to related contents.
Bibliographical references and iconographical parallels got an active role in the exhibition, the visitor can even make a little research, with the help of some lexicons placed in the gallery space. At first sight these books seem to be accurate and reliable guides, but the question occurs: How much is this method subservient regarding to the exhibited artworks, or - in a broader sense - to contemporary art?
The aim of the exhibition is not to find answers, but to initiate the meeting of iconography and contemporary art.
