I've found that the word interesting is one of the usefull words in the English language. You can use it to explain anything, no matter how you actually feel about it, without making it look like you're trying to blow off the question or hide something, when in fact, that's exactly what you are trying to do. For example, you've just had a craptastic day, your dog died, you failed an exam, and someone slashed one of your tires. Someone asks you "How was your day?" Not wanting to even think about how to start, you just say "It's been ... interesting" and the person will nine times out of ten will read that you probably don't want to elaborate and won't know what else to say. You can then easily change the subject. At least thats how it works around here. This picture, I think, Is interesting.
