i chose this fun word for the title
to describe the material in my trash can this morning

since "paper" is mainly made of 'wood' now,
and not papyrus...
1341, from Anglo-Fr. paper, from O.Fr. papier, from L. papyrus "paper, paper made of papyrus stalks"

i am thinking that it deserves a name that describes this fact.

a sheet of tree or wood.
