something missing

2008.07.01

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

Mother Teresa of Calcutta

there is something missing in all of these photos, to me.
they seem flat, lonely, lacking a piece of the puzzle.
that is what my brain says to me, it is how my brain works.
not that these are not useful or even unique in their own way.
not that they can not be enjoyed for what they are.
but just for me...something about them bothers me.

now i felt this very same thing with a photo i saw the other day on photo blog...it bothered me then too. mainly because it was such a wonderful subject matter, and really a very nice photo that i really wanted to see what my mind was wanting for it to be.

oh well, i do not know if anyone here understands this at all.
but, sometimes it is just a very tiny, itsy bitsy hair of a change that can make all the difference.

NOTE ADDED.....

I FOUND OUT WHAT WAS MISSING !!!!!

THE ITSY BITSY THING THAT NEEDED TO CHANGE
WAS MY ATTITUDE...

AND IT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

THANK YOU, MY FRIENDS!

Lynda Love the colour texture and olde world feel to these shots. Perhaps all that's missing is your belief in yourself as you are a great photographer.
Lynda · 2008-07-01: 05:11
jagungal You are certainly in philosophical mode today my friend! I really like #3 and #7.
jagungal · 2008-07-01: 05:24
oldbabe I just get a feeling of abandonment from them...a feeling of lonliness...a lack of concern...a kind of sadness.

And I want to scoop up those canning jars and get them filled!

I do love the photos, though, especially first and last.

wagz98 I can relate and understand without being able to pinpoint it exactly. The colors in number 2 and the way it looks I love this one make sme feel, the enjoy the mix of shadows and shapes.

TIM927 I like this set, not sure what u miss here but u made me think and I came to the point that it is the bright sunny light,,,these are old spoiled objects, imagine them with another light, in a cloudy day, the mood would be completely different I guess, don't know, i'm just bla bla bla sorry :) I really love the last one., the tones and the textures are wondeful!
TIM927 · 2008-07-01: 08:54
ambersunsets I love these types of images...old and rustic.
The 3rd shot is my favorite:)

signsnwonders I think I know the feeling you're talking about..I see it in my own images at times but I don't see it in these beautiful shots...perhaps sometimes what is missing is what makes a photo intriguing? Interesting thoughts and great photos.

slowpete lovely set. but yes a sad set. it is about rejection. maybe that is what you saw.
fortunately we dont have to feel rejected and we don't have to reject those we love or care about
have a great day

busybee36 I love derelict places, they give the chance to explore and find unexpected things. I especially love the peeling paint on the doors in #2
