Dead car battery blues

Every winter I always end up driving in the dark, with the lights and heaters on full blast; needless to say it takes its toll on the battery!
Left the fellah's late last night to drive home, turned the key in the ignition and... nothing. After a call to the insurance company (who don't cover me for roadside assist, it turns out) another to a 24 hour supermarket (who didn't have jumpleads for sale) and a third to a friend who lived around the corner, four of us ended pushing the car up the street looking like lunatics!
Didn't work; had to return to the scene of the ridiculousness this morning with father, uncle, jumpleads and tow rope (just in case!).
It worked :)
