My sleeping baby boy
2009.07.23
My baby boy. He is 11 now, but still my baby. When I saw him sleeping this morning it hit me how little he has changed. He is so sweet and innocent. He is also the bravest soul I have ever known. He was premature and very sickly, overly sensitive to touch, light, sound...well everything. you can see around his eyes that he has a rare pigmentation disorder. Started on his back as 2 little spots. About 3 years ago it attacked the skin around his eyes. He is so self-conscious of it. He also suffers from severe dyslexia, which is so much more complex then seeing letters backwards. He has a speech impairment which is a result of the dyslexia. Reading...that is the easy part of it. But he never gives up, he never cowards, he never pulls the disability card. He hates explaining to other kids about his eyes, speech or why sometimes he will call things by the wrong words (like a wrench might come out as restaurant). But he does it, and keeps pushing forward! Even made the honor roll this year and is playing football. My baby Jake...my little super hero.
