WOW, this is a great motion shot!! My Dad was a dyed in the wool NY Yankees fan for all of his life - even going to see the Toronto Blue Jays, he always wore his Yankees cap!! Some of my Uncle's were Tiger fans all of their lives too!! You can say baseball has been in the family - and 3 of my Uncles and many of Family friends were inducted in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 annd were honoured at a Jay's game!! http://www .umanitoba .ca/outreach/cm/vol11/no10/sleepingtigers .html You will have to close the spaces between the periods on this link.

That is fascinating, I have never heard of the Asahi. I will have to do some more reading or get this video. The history of Japanese Americans / Canadians during WWII is not something that we (Caucasians) hear about very often. It is mind blowing what the Japanese Americans had to endure during this time period. Thanks for sharing your story and the story of the Asahi.

Thanks Toby - Roy Yamamura was my closest Uncle - and he told me the history of his team - The Vancouver Asahi's and he was the best player on the team as the best short-stop in both the Japanese and Caucasian teams - the Family pride just brims when this team and my Uncle is mentioned - he is the most unforgettable character, too! He was posted along with my Family on a tribute to Turk Broda (a Family Friend - who won 6 Stanley Cups as their goalie) of the Toronto Maple Leafs - as hockey runs deep too http://www .7thfloormedia .com/resources/canadiana/library/japan_baseball .html Close the periods on this link

great action shot...really get the sense of how much force he pitched that ball to achieve great speed. i'm assuming you're shooting this at a normal or slower shutter speed to get the distortion effect?

Yes, it was taken hand held at 1/60 shutter speed. I anticipated the arm showing motion...but the way the twisting motion of the upper body is what I really love about this shot. Thanks for the comments!
