Which One Works?

2007.07.18
Original

Edited

No Blur

Less blur and Sepia tone added

The first photo is the original. The second has been edited. I lightened the mid tones, applied a blur around the edges and reduced some of the reflected light from the mom's face and glasses. I also lightly whitened the teeth and brightened her eyes.

I think the second is an improvement...but I wanted to see what you all thought. So...what do you think??

Added a third photo where I removed the blur. :-)
Adding fourth photo. Less blur and changed to sepia tone. :-)

jwideman tough choice--the mom's face in the second one looks better, but i think i like the original one best. both still have the same excitement and happiness though :D

losalamos666 Try the second without the blur and I think it will give you the best of both

vollenda I like the 2nd one but maybe a little less blur?

deleted090307 I like the second but agree with the gang - maybe a little less blur - but both are beautiful shots.

t2d4th So...taking the feedback from everyone I think I must have over done the blur. :-) I appreciate your honesty!! I added a third shot where I removed the blur effect.

garysktam I love the original too

MidsummerSilence i like the third. just because now... her face is lightened a bit... it was a bit overshadowed before. :) nice capture.. very sweet

fishbud i like the no blur on the third...original look nice as well, but a little too dark. I think more lighting in 3rd works out better.
fishbud · 2007-07-19: 10:42
dkelly the original is my favorite ,

JuliaGotz Very nice, and the third is my favorite. Blur is good if the background is distracting or unappealing, but the bracelet and archway are both very nice, and no need for blur. The subtle edits are good.

The moment shines.

davidcardona Great! Thanks for sharing!

emmetan hmmm I like no 2
emmetan · 2007-07-20: 01:09
fivewilsons I also prefer No. 2 overall.

It frames the moment captured in this image and that is the face-to -face emotional connection of the two subjects. If you soften the blur effect just enough to get some of the details back, like the bracelet, then that would be a bonus.

Very nice work here.
fivewilsons · 2007-07-20: 17:36
Sheldon No question #3. Light enough to showcase the faces but still very natural. An emotional masterpiece.

JuliaGotz Sepia fits the mood, but I still don't think there is anything that needs blurring here.
JuliaGotz · 2007-07-23: 16:14
jendayee 3rd one for me :) On the second, if we don't know we may beleive she is the bride....
jendayee · 2007-07-23: 23:44
aysha third one for me too. gives out all of the moment, since there's not much to blur..
