James

Focused

I was privileged to get to watch James spar tonight. This guy is a terrific athlete and could very well become a professional boxer in a few years if he chooses to stay with it. I was amazed at how quick and smooth and powerful he was. He spared for a good 7 or 8 rounds against 3 different opponents.

On a photography note...this was my first chance to break out my newest lens...Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8. It is going to take some getting used to, but this is an amazing lens that produced some beautifully crisp photos. The focus is fast and silent. It was a lot of fun to use.

I will be posting a few other boxing shots over the next few days. I hope you enjoy them.

vollenda It's a great shot! The lens works beautifully. I got a chance to peer thru that lens when I was a the car show a while back. I tried not to drool on it. :)

thepictureman Great B+W, and great new lens you have there. I wanted one of those, but couldn't afford the $$$. I got the 19-35 mm Tamaron, without a 2nd mortgage. I have a Nikkor 28-105mm from my film camera days. I shoot lots of macros with it.

JuliaGotz This is a great shot, strong in the expression and the relationship of gloves, helmet and face. I guess the main light comes from your flash . I wonder what the lighting situation is here. could you say something about that?

dweiskir Beautiful shot. The lens really can make the difference in a shot. I'm saving my pennies for some new glass.
