Huge Acacia nilotica (Babool) on the bund road at the Magadi Lake.
Seen lots of babool but not one this size.

Meandering stream, that confluences the Shettykere, a lake near Magadi.
I was surprised to see this meandering stream in early April in this arid zone... wonders of nature?!?!?!

A wetland at the edge of the lake ... there were many birds and few buffalloes

An asteraceae, locally called akkarki, the leaves make a good salad accompaniment with Jola and Sajjae rotti ( flat breads made from millets)

The lakes are in the heartland of the state - the region is dry arid, the region received some unseasonal rains this year causing floods.

It is really sad that arid zones in India are either hit dought or flood (occasionally)
