...well yes, if u look closely there IS a big lizard there...

So here I am on my way to Sisaket (well some 60 kilometers from there) with my girl Parisa, to meet her family, hang out, and... get engaged! haha. Yes you heard it here first boys and girls, the shit hit the fan at last, and Timmy Tarerizm is getting hitched :)
While many of you may be thinking wild thoughts in your eager little minds, let me assure you this is not a spurr of the moment decision, and rather a very well thought through decision, which (hopefully) will help bring happiness and an infinite world of possibilities to me and my to-be wife Parisa.

ANYWAY, on to the blog.
Set out from Bangkok on an 8 hour train ride to Samrong Thap, Northeast in the Issan province. The ride was actually pretty pleasant despite the length and apart from the rather uncomfortable seats the train was in good shape.

Upon arrival was met by Parisa's father, mother, cousin, aunt, and a few uncles (lol) whom had driven to pick us up in their pickup truck (I AM the funny one with words aren't I?)
My first impressions on that 30 minute drive to their village were amazing: lush beautiful rich expanses of green; rice fields galore, and dazzling clear blue skies all around. Fresh air at last after the over polluted rancid streets of Bangkok, and an overwhelming sense of serenity and tranquility everywhere (redundant?)

Parisa's family was ever welcoming, open, warm and generous. Despite the fact that communicating was difficult at best, we made good use of mime and signs, and of course Parisa's translating skills. I cannot begin to adequately describe the welcome I received in the village; the smiles, the traditions, the people...

Stay tuned for part two.

Take care
Timmy Tarerizm
