Sometimes when I do portraits or landscapes I try to set standards for myself. Almost like a game. One of them is: Would this color image being created look just as good or better taken in black and white?
It seems doing black and white imagery can be more demanding. A photographer must pay closer attention to the basic tenets of good art: Subject, rule of thirds, detail, lines, shape, pattern and texture
And when a color image is created within the same line of discipline as a black and white .... the results should be noticeable, no?
