GMSR 2008: Burlington Criterium

2008.09.07
It's just a blur. P12 men on Main Street, Burlington.

John Funk leads the charge.

Turning onto College St.

Women turning onto Church St.

Prime (or points?) sprint in the 3s race.

P12 staging during callups.

Healthnet's Karl Menzies.

A long thin line....

Stage winner Jake Hollenbach (here getting a $600 crowd prime I think).

The headless photographer equipped with a Pentax and a 17x70 Sigma lens. This is a frame from a very short time lapse video which can be seen here (Vimeo).

Some images -- of rather poor quality -- taken at the Burlington Criterium stage of the 2008 Green Mountain Stage Race.

1) I was at the race to work/volunteer. I got there at 6:45 am (later than some of the crew) and stayed all day through breakdown. It was hot and tiring. I never really had an hour to myself to just play with the camera.

2) My camera, a Pentax K100D Super, is not known for having a fast autofocus. So it's probably not the best tool for this kind of venue. Also this is the first bike race I have shot with this and I must say, I would like to try again, and tweak some settings.

3) I have been at this event for far too long, since, 1993 or so... Labor Day Monday is usually sunny for some reason. This causes deep shadows at the finish line....

There's more race media on my blog...
