November 9- archive: cats we miss
2009.11.09
A couple of weeks ago my friend Liz's 20 year old cat, Sherman passed away. Last week I scanned in and printed out a few old pictures of cats we have loved and lost and sent them in a card to Liz.
Above is my beloved cat, Henry, when he was still a bit of a kitten, lying on what was Liz's duvet cover, when she and I were house mates, something like 18 years ago.
Henry passed away in 2008. He had cancer. I was devastated at the time, as some of you may recall. I still miss him. My friend Spoon did a lovely painting of him, which you can see here

This was Liz's cat Marnie who was also one of my housemates at the time. ;-). She was very sweet, kinda prissy, and super fluffy and cuddly. This picture was also taken sometime during that year and a half Liz and I were housemates.

and lastly, one of our favorite cat pictures- on the left is Sherman Thompson (named after a friend of hers in the Bahamas), or Sherman or Shermy for short. When I adpoted Henry, Sherman was the consumate "big brother". Those two cats never fought- never even play fought- all they used to do was hang around each other. We used to joke that they had some kinda "man-boy" thing goin' on.
;-). I think Liz took this. That was her old motorcycle jacket and her chair. She had a red chair that matched as well. (They're 50's).
Shermy was a good cat, and along with Henry and Marnie, will always be remembered. RIP Sherman.
