October 25- friend's cat and Lantern Parade

My friend Trish's cat, Molly. (very sweet)

Paul and I went back to our old 'hood for the 10th annual Patterson Park Lantern Parade.

The sky was looking awlfully cool as the sun set.

Our friends Ann and Ian have worked the parade for the last 3 years.

Me and my little witch lantern I made.
(I made a few of the lantern bags for the movie "Liberty Heights" like 12 years ago, still had them in the basement, so took one of them and attached it to a stick with some wire.) |
Take a paper bag and cut a pattern into it, then stick colored tissue paper to the inside, put a lit candle inside (carefully), et voila, a lantern.

Other parade marshalls wear pagoda lantern hats (after the Patterson Park Pagoda.

There are various bands and drummers and such spaced throughout the parade. We went alittle in front of a Dixieland style band.

This lady made a Bawlamore lantern- the O's (Orioles-baseball team), "Hey Hon" and a lady with a beehive hairdo. (not shown)

Hard to shoot the parade in the dark with a point n shoot... it's quite long , quite loud, and very fun!!

When it ends, there's always a 10-15 minute shadow puppet show on a big screen.
