Finally, the Baths at Esalen!

Back in the grad school daze, we would gather for dinner talking big about running down the road to Esalen for the 2AM free admission to the hot springs. Not only would it have been a midnight run, there was the prospect of the nude bathing with strangers. Never made it back then in the 80's. But I DID get there for a Phillip Moffit workshop this weekend. My reward for waiting was the fact that El Nino had ripped the old baths out of the cliffside and I was able to enjoy the renovated structure. WOW.
And yes, those are massage tables right by the hot tubs. Workshop attendees who got massages and soaks between sessions looked totally blissed out for the remainder of the day.

Arguably, the best part about the baths was the shower! big sliding glass doors allowed you options of full exposure to the ocean and surrounding cliffs vs. no wind as your body cooled from the natural hot spring soak.

Pic number 3, the brown swirls on the grass reminds me of cinnamon buns fresh from the oven =) love it!
