Legend and tradition
The flower is also known as Our Lady's tears since, according to Christian legend, the lily of the valley came into being from Eve's tears after she was driven with Adam from the Garden of Eden.[8] According to another legend, Lilies of the Valley also sprang from the blood of Saint Leonard of Noblac during his battles with a dragon. Other names include May Lily, May Bells, Lily Constancy, Ladder-to-Heaven, Male Lily and Muguet.
Traditionally, Lily of the Valley is sold in the streets of France on May 1. The wedding of lily symbolize the 13 years of marriage in french folklore.
On 1 May, it has traditionally to offert "lucky lily of the valley" because it always blooms around this date. This tradition is very present, especially in France, Switzerland and Belgium.
According to the language of flowers, the lily stands for "return of happiness"Lily of the Valley became the national flower of Finland in 1967.
The meaning of this flower is "You will find Happiness."

I just found some < muguet fleuri > in our yard ...... J ai pense a TOMIE hier car je parlais a mon voisin et a ses chiens et a l ombre entre nos deux proprietees j ai trouve du muguet qui sent tres bon..j ai du expliquer a l americain la tradition francaise..il a un peu compris..and il repliquait ...Ho, yay . !? !..cool...!!
