(corrected version :/) #1 is my choice, as well. most part of the image consists of the trunks holding the branches and leading the eyes towards the sky opening in the top right corner. branches in the background also contribute to the well balancing of the view (similar shots up to the sky, usually less well defined, rarely worked for me). the "root-stairs" image offers another nice example of a natural line leading the eyes between the shrubs back to the trees introduced on the earlier two pics.
