The Japan Olympic Committee nominated Tokyo over Fukuoka for the 2016 Summer Olympics bid last 2006 August 30. The International Olympic Committee will likely begin to collect applications in 2007, with the winner being announced at Copenhagen, Denmark sometime in October of 2009. The last time Tokyo hosted the Olympics was in 1964.
