Delayed.
It's the one word every passenger (or single woman from the age of puberty to just before menopause) dreads to hear/read/learn...
9:00 PM
It was the first time I arrived at the airport 3 hours BEFORE boarding time. I was expecting to check in early and still be able to roam around and take pictures.
9:10 PM
After organizing our stuff and taking care of business in the toilet, we were ready to check in.
9:15 PM
Found out our section was still closed.
9:20 PM
Washed the strawberries my cousin received as a gift and started eating. Since we couldn't very well take the WHOLE box she got, we only brought some in, planning to eat it while waiting for boarding time.
10:00 PM
We were out of strawberries but our section finally opened.
We were finally able to check in.
The person at the counter, however, had some news for us: the plane that we were supposed to take hasn't even left Manila yet.
There goes our 12:30 MN flight...
10:30 PM
Passed through immigration.
Detected wifi signal (
HOORAY!) so we immediately went online.
11:00 PM
Still waiting.
Still browsing.
The status at the board now read that we would fly at 2:40 AM.
12 MIDNIGHT
The day has changed.
As compensation for our inconvenience, we received 2 packs of sandwich cakes (strawberry flavored, ironically) and a choice of either small mineral water bottle or canned soda.
1 AM
Napped away listening to my favorite podcast as my cousin busied herself online...
2:30 AM
Our plane finally arrives.
Surprisingly, they didn't any more take the time to do maintenance stuff. We were immediately let in and left just before 3 AM.
And so we leave Shanghai.
Whether I have seen the last of it, I don't yet know.
One thing I do know.
My cousin will be back!
