I cut two pieces of luan plywood, tha will go side-by-side for the door
I used 1x4's for the door structure
Atached the left side flush and the right side up the middle of the vertical for attaching the other piece of plywood.
Both pieces of plywood attached to the verticals
Added in the horizontals along the bottom.
I did all the attachment so far with 3/4" long 1/4" crown staples. Each piece is heavily glued with Titebond II wood glue.
I attached the main horizontal support accross the bottom. Basically the door is lap construction with a 1/4" piece of plywood in the middle. I tacked this in place with brad, then attached it with 1 5/8' screws.
I flipped the door around and started to work on the top transom windows.
Here is a detailed picture of the attchement method.
So far, the front side of hte door has been face-down during contstruction.
I added in the dividing pieces for the windows and the supports
These openings are built to allow a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of glass - from a standard award picture frame.
Here is how the transom frame looks from the front.
I added in the final support pieces on the back.
Finally, I put the diagonals on the front. I needed to scribe and cut these individually.
