Poplar Island

Poplar Island is a national model for habitat restoration and the beneficial use of dredged material. It is located at chesapeake Bay coastline, about 34 miles south of Baltimore in Talbot County, MD. The island was formed at "Ice age"(10,000BC), Now, the verge of island is disappearing. The US Army Crop of engineers restore Poplar Island using dredged material from the Baltimore Harbor and Channels Federal navigation projects. This a Federal and MD State Founded Project for preservation and protection of Poplar Island. The whole project will be completed by 2016.
