The Spiny King Crab from Hokkaido, Japan
2008.02.16
This spiny king crab is very very spiky and it has very small claws compared to his cousins. The guess at the table was that this species of crab is not a particularly aggressive crab since its defense is so elaborate. It was a feast for the eyes.

This spiny king crab flew to Hong Kong from Hokkaido in a friend's luggages. Of course, the crab was cooked and then frozen before it got onto the the lugguage. It was served cold. The crab meat was very good and the taste has a hint of sea salt.
