Photo hunting on Tung Lung Island

2008.03.24
A reflection of a building by the pier in Sai Wan Ho

A knot - anyone knows what this one is called?

Another knot - anyone knows what this one is called?

A yellow metal buoy - I think it means that area is a shallow area

The interior of the privately operated ferry. It was almost empty on our way to the island (but was packed as we left on the last ferry at 5:30 pm)

A play with patterns on the ferry

As we approached the island pier, the sailor prepared for moaring

A lock on a green fence of an inhabitant's garden

Low tide at a rocky beach

Waves crashing onto the rocks

I particular like this one... it looks like a painting. :)

Elton caught a crab!

Shoes on a round boulder

A close up on the barnacles in between the boulders

A shy puppy by the island pier

Although the water had a lot of algae in it, the clarity of the water was amazing (HK standard of course). It looks like this white dinghy is floating on a bed of emerald!

The Tung Lung Island is 30 minutes away from the east coast of the Hong Kong island by privately operated ferries on weekends and a couple of days in the week. Although the island is only 30 minutes away from the Sai Wan Ho MTR subway station, there are one or two stores that serve instant noodles and organic honey drinks along the hiking trail. (Don't even think shopping or Starbucks on this island!) Once off the simple island ferry pier, it feels like stepping into a quasi deserted island where nothing but nature and the cliffs mattered. The island was picture perfect today as my ferry arrived at around 3-ish pm. I took quite a few pictures today and here's a collection of my favorite ones. Enjoy!
