Tsukiji Fish Market - Part I

2008.10.27

woohoo! Finally at the Tsukiji station - 20 minutes away from Akasaka Mitsuke station

Rows and rows of frozen tuna set on display for bidders at the tuna auction.

This guys manages the auction and sells tuna. and his voice is very loud and clear in the auction area.

I guess no money is exchanged in the auction ground. I wonder how much the piece of fish was sold for...

I love this photo. Need I say more? :)

I made it to the auction -- finally! This is my second time to the Tsukiji Fish Market but last time, I was late for the auction so I was determined to come back here again whenever I was in town (and if the schedule allows it). I woke up at 4:45 am and left the hotel at 5:15 am. Took an early train from Akasaka Mitsuke, transfered at Ginza for the Hibiya line to Tsukiji station. It was wonderful walking around so early in the morning, the air was fresh and the sky was in a deep intense blue color. Will I go back to the fish market? Maybe. It is such an interesting place to take photos that I would go back in a heart beat... not to mention, the freshest sashimi on rice served at the restaurants nearby is a must - even if you don't usually have breakfast... yum!
