Tsukiji Fish Market - Part II

2008.10.28
The proof that I was early at the market! By this time, the auction has ended half an hour ago. :)

I wonder whether why some tuna are called yellowfin tuna...

Not sure whether these are eel... Look pretty gruesome to me... But I bet they'd turn into delicious fish in the right kitchen

I believe this guy from this stall specializes in small fish. I am amazed by his intense concentration in cleaning, cutting and packing that are hardly longer than 10 cm in length.

Ice is a necessity of the market. This guy is cutting a block of ice into smaller pieces.

Workers are leaving the main area of the market to deliver boxes of fresh fish, crabs, shrimps and uni to trucks parked at the other end of the park. It's quite an amazing fleet of these little powerful and flexible carts moving from one end to the other of the market.

At 8 am, for many it's the start of another day, but for these early risers, they are already enjoying their first break of the day.
