Stained Glass Poppy

2007.02.06

A break from the rejects. One thing that looking at my old slides made me do was revisit some of my other ones. This one, I use as wallpaper from time to time. Especially when I'm feeling gloomy. It always makes me think of sunlight streaming thru a stained glass window. Plus, green is my favorite color and the a poppy is wild and free.

I shot this on Velvia with a soft filter. I think I need to try shooting with it again.

dquixote Such a simple picture...red and green...one flower...and I really like it! Your pictures always seem to have such rich color. I would love to know how you do that. Good job, as always.

vollenda The rich color from this one and the rest of the older ones comes from the Velvia film I used. It gave me deep saturated flowers. The other thing is that I find that I like to shoot flowers in jewel tones. They draw me to them where I have to seek out the paler flowers and often don't.

Karen I love the way the background is soft and unfocused. The poppy really stands out.

vollenda Thanks all!

Haha - a friend just told me today the he was sick of seeing poppies. I think he was just being grumpy. How could you be sick of such a cheery flower?
