Fight the power! I always smile when I see a picture of a "no photography" sign.

You are not a brat! This happened to a friend of mine the other week who also posts on here...a security guard came up and said he was infringing copyright. There were no signs up saying photography wasn't allowed either. It does annoy me that this is happening in places and would indeed stop me from shopping in the store or eating in the restaurant if they were stopping me taking photographs. Sad really...

Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well in shopping malls. I have a small camera (Sony Cybershot) that I take into places where I think my DSLR will cause someone to say No) I must say that I haven't had any problems here—save in some museums. Glad you vented.

I would feel bummed to if I were you. I am rarely in public places with my camera so I don't know the feeling. I guess my wildlife pictures welcome a camera. Hope you are feeling better today and Spike gave you a big hug after you not-allowed to take photographs Saturday!!

How sad! If they don't want photos at their restaurant there is definitely something to hide!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sad that others have run into this as well. You know, the funny thing was I was taking pictures of bricks on an outdoor fireplace there when he told me to stop. Why would they have a problem with that?

Frustrating. There are lots of places that are starting to ban photography. People are so paranoid post 9-11. With all the camera phones out there now it seems like it would be impossible to reinforce these bans. Oh well...spend your money elsewhere.

OK brat, here's my take on this... this is when you need the stealth Coolpix SpikeCam. Make it a game to shoot as much as you can undercover. Go ahead, kick me out!! Hard to do with the D200! You go girl! You are a kindred spirit. I too am a rebel!!!

I'm sorry this happened to you. Vent away here. You are among friends. I love your take on waving and then snapping his picture. That made me laugh.

On Mardi Gras, I tried to take a shot of a row of King's Cakes at Kroger with my little toy camera. Great colors--they would have been perfect for its weird plastic lens. The bakery lady gave me the "no photo" lecture. Made me mad. I didn't have the presence of mind, though, to snap a quick shot of her.
